Hi, I am Geert Nijst, SOCIAL MEDIA trainer & advisor | Manager at hi 5 media group, a creative media company that provides VIDEO, WEBSITE, SOCIAL MEDIA & SEO solutions.

Who am I? I am an ambitious entrepreneur with a passion for media & communication, a happily married husband and father of 2 amazing children. Wine & dine, travelling, good movies and cycling are my favourite activities. What do I do? My company, Hi 5 Media Group, produces creative, high quality media solutions for corporate, broadcast and private clients. Being an early adopter of social media I love to exchange experience and knowledge with others. Speaking, training and consultancy on social media are rapidly taking over my schedule. What's my goal and ambition? Building a 'generation y' company where products and services arise from co-creation. Clients, employers and partners will determine goals and strategy, transforming business in a 'social' enterprise. If you believe you can contribute to this I invite you to connect! Where do I come from? I picked up experience in various fields but somehow entrepreneurship suits me best. Taking things easy is not my cup of tea. Every attempt to settle for less than my beliefs failed. I started a restaurant at the age of 21. It was an amazing challenge and with passion and hard work I pulled it of, but 3 years later my hunger for innovation and creativity took over. After selling the business I founded wine company pasqualinno. Inspired by our motto pas=passion | qual=quality | inno=innovation, top sommelier Rob Geraerts and myself began a quest for unknown treasures in the world of wine. No famous houses or brands but authentic, characterful wines from passionate winemakers. I used to believe my resume was a weakness because I was never able to finish higher education. I now see things differently. It can be a privilege to get excellent schooling but it's not necessary to become of great value! I really came close to a bachelor's degree in teaching but cancer had other plans for me. And as people say: "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger", being ill only changed my path for the better.

Together with my business partner Rob G. I started up a wine import and distribution company names Pasqualinno. Today, Pasqualinno is one of the leading wine companies in Belgium, run by my former business partner & maître-sommelier Rob G.

Together with business partner & sommelier Rob Geraerts I started a wine import and distribution company named Pasqualinno. The name comes from passion, quality, innovation. No famous brands/houses but authentic, characterful, quality wines! Today, Pasqualinno is one of the leading wine companies in Belgium and although I did not stay on board for long it was a privilege to be part of this inspiring business.

Brasserie "Friends" was my passion. Fresh, honest food with a personal touch. As one of the first in Belgium we presented a huge collection of malts, cognacs... & fine cigars. The idea started by working as a waiter/bartender. Like many others the dream of my own business grew. When I found a nice place to turn into a restaurant my wife and I grabbed the opportunity with both hands!
